GRE Eligibility Criteria

The Graduate Record Examination (GRE) is a standardized exam required for admissions to graduate programs in the USA. The GRE scores are accepted by most of the universities and colleges in the United States. The GRE eligibility requirements are relatively broad. There are no strict age or academic qualification requirement to take the exam. The only GRE eligibility that the candidates need to be concerned about has an undergraduate degree.   2. GRE Eligibility Age Criteria: There is no age limit for GRE. ETS has not set an age limit for taking the GRE.

  3. GRE Eligibility Educational Qualification Requirement: There are no restrictions on previous qualifications as long as the candidate has completed an undergraduate degree in any field (arts, science, business, humanities, and so on).

  4. GRE Eligibility for Work Experience: There is no prior work experience requirement for GRE Eligibility.

  5. GRE Retakes: One can take the test once every 21 days for a total of five times in a rolling 12-month period (365 days). This is true even if you already cancelled your test results.

  6. GRE Eligibility for Differently Abled Candidates: ETS grants special accommodations for Test Takers with Disabilities or Health-Related Needs A form needs to be completed and sent to ETS via ETS account, email, mail, or through courier services

  7. GRE General Test at home: Owing to the current COVID-19pandemic, ETS, has chosen to bring the GRE® General Test at home, monitored online by a human invigilator. This option, however, is not available in mainland China or Iran. The test at-home provides you with the following:

    • Content, format, on-screen experience, and length are all the same (about 3 hours, 45 minutes)
    • The same test-taker-friendly alternatives are available, such as skipping questions, going back and changing answers, and so on.
    • Price and payment choices are the same, including vouchers.
    • The ScoreSelect, score scales, and score report are all the same.
  1. GRE Eligibility Mandatory Masks: Students must wear masks at all GRE centers that are accessible. Rubber gloves can be worn if desired. During the photoshoot, the mask will need to be removed.
