What is the IIT JEE Exam all about?

IIT JEE is an entrance exam consisting of two stages; JEE Main and JEE Advanced. It is an all-India examination for admission to Undergraduate Programmes of Architecture and Engineering in IITs, NIT and other famous engineering institutes.

The IITs conduct a Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) JEE Advanced to select candidates for admission to the following courses:

4-year Bachelors - BTech, BS,5-year BArch,5-year Dual Degree - BTech, MTech, BS, MS,5-year Integrated Masters - MTech, MSc, Dual Degree

For the computer-based entrance exam, candidates must first register online. All hopefuls were required to take two examinations based on a preset JEE Advanced syllabus issued by the conducting authority.

The exam conducting organisation will release the JEE Advanced admission cards. Admission to the IITs will be determined by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA), which will be based on candidates' JEE Advanced scores.

Candidates who pass JEE Main will be eligible to apply for JEE Advanced, which would grant them admission to India's IITs (Indian Institutes of Technology). Only the top 2.5 lakh JEE Main qualifiers would be allowed to apply for JEE Advanced. Due to 'tied' ranks/scores in each category, the total number of candidates may be somewhat greater than 2.5.
